Here you will knitting, sewing, and crocheting crafts for nonprofits and sick kids
WE ARE NO LONGER ACTING AS A NON-PROFIT AND DON'T ACCEPT ANY DONATIONS. HOWEVER, WE ARE KEEPING THIS ARTICLE UP AS TO HELP YOU DONATE TO OTHER NON-PROFITS.
Do you want to brighten up the days of a sick child? Are you a crafty person who likes to knit or sew? We need your creative spirit and your loving help. There are so many children in hospitals, shelters, orphanages, etc who could use a cuddly animal or doll. Look below for more info.
Anyone!! We encourage anyone to help. We are looking for Knitting Groups / Knitting Clubs / Sewing Friends / School Children / Brownies and Girl/Boy Scouts Groups, Religious Organizations, Senior Citizens and Retirement Homes, etc. to help out our cause. There are easy and hard patterns below...find an easy one if you are a beginner (The Easy Yarn Doll Pattern, Mini Yarn Doll Pattern, Blue Jean Bag, Knit T-Shirt Bag, The Sock Monkey, and Sock Elephant are the easiest)
Of course. It would mean a lot to the sick children that another child cared enough to make a bag or a stuffed animal for them. We would even love for hand-crafted notes and cards to be sent along with your knitted or sewn item. Children who are too young or who can't keep up with projects, can make cards or artwork to send with the bag of goodies.
Of course, that is a great idea. Items must be new as they are being shipped to hospital patients whom cannot be exposed to germs. Below are arts and crafts items that would be great to receive, but we are also interested in toys as well. Yoyos are very popular with patients.
Arts and Crafts Kits, Paint-by-Number Sets, Markers, Crayons, Colored Pencils, Watercolor Painting kits, Oil pastels, Beeswax sheets for candle making (all colors), Black velvet pictures to color, Glitter pens/glitter glue, Fabric markers, Scene/story stickers, Doodle art posters, Fimo/Sculpy clay, Beading supplies, Coloring and Activity books, Sketch books, Puffy paints, Play Doh, Art Paper, Notepads, Pencils, Books, Paint Brushes, Glue and Paste, Safety Scissors, Dolls and Stuffed Animal Kits, Other toys and games are welcome too.
Yes.
Any children's hospital or shelter would be great, but soon we will list other places here too.
Are you uncomfortable with the idea of sewing or knitting, no matter how easy the
pattern? There is one bag below that is made out of foam...there is no sewing involved at all. Check it out.

It would be wonderful if you could make homemade cards to put in the bags to the children. This could help cheer up a lonely or sad child.
CHANGES TO ARTISTS HELPING CHILDREN - PLEASE READ
Artists Helping Children is No Longer Acting as a Nonprofit Due to the New Provisions of The Pension Protection Act of 2006 Passed on August 03, 2006. We Are No Longer Accepting Donations of Any Kind. We are Currently Keeping This Site Up As Is and Will Continue to Post Information on Any Updates to the Status of Artists Helping Children. The Site Still Has a Wealth of Information and Can Still Be Used as Such. We Are Obviously Deeply Distressed Over This Provision That Was Secretly Included In This New Law and We Were Taken by Complete Surprise. We Hope in the Future That We Will Be Able to Change the Status of Our Organization so That We Can Once Again Resume Our Help to Children. Thank You Very Much to Everyone Who Has Worked With Us So Hard Up Until Now. Please Continue to Use This Site for Free Coloring Pages / Printouts, Arts and Crafts Project Ideas, and as a Resource for Childrens Art Articles, etc. Don't worry, All donations of items that were sent to us will still be sent to hospitals and shelters, etc. All recent checks sent to us will be mailed back to you. Thanks.
