MAKING WALNUT & PINE CONE CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS : Christmas Crafts for Kids and Teens

Christmas time is upon us and it is time to start decorating the house and christmas tree with ornaments and decorations. You can use items from outdoors & nature to create beautiful ornaments...such as pinecones & walnuts. You can then dip them in gold paint and make them just gorgeous to look at. MAKING WALNUT & PINE CONE CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS

CRAFTS MATERIALS NEEDED:


Pine cones or milkweed pods or dried golden-rod tops or galls or seed balls or Walnuts

Coffee can

Water

Silver or Gold Paint

String (only needed for walnut oraments)

How to Make Them:


(1) Gather various kinds of pine cones, milkweed pods, dried golden-rod tops, galls, and seed balls of the sweet gum trees.

(2) Fill a coffee can nearly to top with water.

(3) Pour on enough silver or gold paint to cover surface of water.

(4) Dip material into the mixture and allow to drain. Add paint to the water when needed. Christmas sparkle can be used before paint dries to give additional touch.

HOW TO MAKE GOLD DIPPED WALNUT ORNAMENTS

(1) Attractive walnut decorations can be made as follows. Break a walnut in half; remove the meat.

(2) Insert a string loop at the top and glue the halves together.

(3) Allow them to dry.

(4) Dip in silver or gold paint mixture as above. Christmas sparkle can be used before paint dries to give additional touch.
