MAKING DESK TRASH CAN WITH OATMEAL CONTAINER : Crafts for Kids & Teens

One way to ease up on the overflowing wastebasket situation is to make a small one especially for a desk. An oatmeal box is small enough to take little desk space, and can be an attractive desk accessory. You can then close the trash can with the lid to keep your desk looking neat and tidy. Find out how to make it below.

Desk Trash Cans

CRAFTS MATERIALS NEEDED:

pencil

scissors

ruler

wallpaper or shelf paper (optionally wrapping paper)

oatmeal box

glue

How to Make Them:

Either remove loose labels or glue them down, so that the box will provide a tight gluing surface for the paper. Use the oatmeal box to determine the amount of paper needed. Roll the box along the wallpaper or shelf paper and add one inch for overlap. Draw a line and cut the paper evenly. To cover the lid, draw a circle using the lid, and add 1/2 inch all around this. Cut this edge in sections, and bend over the overlap and glue on the sides of the lid. Cut a strip the width of the lid edge, and glue this in place. It is not necessary to cover the bottom of the box, since it isn't seen.
