MAKING PAPIER MACHE BOWLS : Craft for Kids and Teens

Here is a fun, yet messy, craft that is fun for all children. For younger children in Elementary School, this is a simple way to make dishes. With this project, you will use a glass jar as a mold for making a papier mache bowl.

MAKING PAPIER MACHE BOWLS : Craft for Kids and Teens

CRAFTS MATERIALS NEEDED:

Jar

Newspaper

Flour

Water

Scissor

Paint / Brush

Shellac

HOW TO MAKE IT:


(1) Use a jelly jar or something similar for the mold.

(2) Cut four circles of newspaper ten inches in diameter.

(3) Dip the circles of paper in a mixture of flour and water (1/2 water and 1/2 flour) until very moist.

(4) Place over upturned mold and press well to take up slack.

(5) Add four more layers of paper. Press.

(6) Turn down or roll a narrow edge at the top.

(7) Trim and allow to dry.

(8) Remove the jar.

(9) Paint with tempera and let dry completely.

(10) Shellac the entire thing.
