STICK PAINTING : A CRAFT FOR PRESCHOOLERS AND KINDERGARTENERS AND YOUNG KIDS TO EXPLORE THE TEXTURES OF STICKS AND TWIGS

Stick Painting or Printing

This method of painting can be used as an exploration of sticks & twigs and their different textures. Finding sticks from different types of trees will result in different textures on your paper. Changing the placement of the sticks on the paper can result in different shapes, such as a house or a person. Use your creativity to make different objects, figures, or shapes.

CRAFTS MATERIALS NEEDED:

1.Small sticks of various sizes and shapes

2. Paint (tempera, showcard or poster paint)

3. Paper

4. Paint brush

HOW TO MAKE THEM:

1. Before printing the design, lay the sticks on the paper to discover their many design possibilities.

2. Dip a stick into the paint or apply the paint to the stick with the brush.

3. Remove any excess paint by pressing the stick once or twice against some scrap paper.

4. To print, press the painted sticks against your paper.

NOTE: Groupings of various stick-printed shapes can be used to create animals, flowers, birds, fish, etc.
