HOW TO MAKE TOM TOM DRUMS & DRUMSTICKS

If you are always tapping your feet and fingers then you must really love rhythm. The best way to display your love of rhytm is by playing a drum. This craft project is to make your very own Tom Tom drum and drumsticks. And it is a nice quality drum that you'll actually be able to use over and over again. Have fun!

Crafts Materials Needed for Tom Tom Drums:

Very large can

Inner tube

String

Paints

How to Make The Tom Tom Drums:

Tom Tom Drums

1. Ask an adult to open both ends of large can with safe can opener.Paint and decorate can and allow to dry.

2. Ask an adult to open inner tube. Stand can on tubing and cut 2 circles, each 4" larger than diameter of can. Punch evenly-spaced holes around circles, 1/2" from the edge. (Optionally : If possible insert grommets or eyelets in holes.)

3. (See the above illustration) Stretch the rubber circles over the ends of the can and lace together by passing string alternatively from hole to hole (or eyelet to eyelet). Tie a big loop of string for hanging around neck, as in the illustration.

1. Cover dish mop heads with velvet (or other fabric) and tie with ribbon.

2. Paint and decorate sticks. Pull ribbons through hole in handle, as in picture above.
