Forever Calendars

(Click on picture to open up larger picture) The crafts items that you need for this calendar are as follows: a piece of colored cardboard 4 1/2"x6", 4 colored cardboard circles 2 3/8" in diameter, four 3/8" paper fasteners, pencil, paint, paintbrush, paper punch, 10" piece of yarn or ribbon, and scissors. On the back of the 4 1/2"x6" piece of cardboard mark the center of all four sides. Draw lines connecting the centers of the opposite sides. Cut 1/2" square windows 11/2" in from all four sides (sketch a). Lines connecting sides should go through center of windows. Be sure to measure accurately! Then make a small hole with paper punch 1" from each side of the cardboard on the lines connecting sides (sketch a). Turn cardboard over and label the openings as shown in sketch g. Decorate as desired. Punch a hole in the center of each cardboard circle. Carefully divide one circle into seven equal parts (marking lightly in pencil) and print on the days of the week around the edge (see sketch b). Divide the second circle into twelve equal parts and print on it the months of the year. On the third circle print the numbers 1, 2, 3, as shown in sketch d. Divide the last circle into ten parts and print the numbers 0 through 9 around the edge. With a paper fastener, attach each circle in place on the back of the large cardboard as shown in sketch f, so that the number or word will show through the proper window. Punch two holes in top of calendar. Put one end of yarn or ribbon in each hole and knot on back side (sketch g).

How to Make a Pocket Calendar for the New Year

How to Make a Pocket Calendar for the New Year

How about making a really cool pocket calendar for the New Year? For distant perspectives, keep clued in with an over-all view of several months at a time. Cut six large sheets of paper, either white or brown. Rule seven spaces across and eight or nine down, leaving an extra bit of paper at the bottom to fold up into a pocket. Cut up a small regular calendar and glue a number into each square, two months per page. Hang the calendar near the phone. There's lots of room in each square to jot down red-letter days.
