If you want to make the most amazing popsicle stick creation, then look no further. Once you get the first few layers of popsicle sticks down, this craft isn't so hard to do. The pattern just repeats over and over again. Find out how to make your very own craft sticks basket too.

Crafts Materials Needed:

200 popsicle sticks

glue

Instructions for Making the Crafts Sticks Basket Craft:

Step 1 Making Popsicle Stick Baskets

To make this, all you need to do is place 12 sticks in a row (sketch a). Across these, place 2 sticks, thoroughly covered with glue, ¼” from the edges (sketch b). Press 2 sticks into place. When dry, turn smooth side up. Look at the pictures above.

Step 2 to Making Popsicle Stick Baskets

The Finished Popsicle Stick Basket

This forms the basket bottom. Now you are ready to build up the basket, row upon row, until there are 24 rows. To make the first row place 4 sticks across the corners of the basket bottom. (Use glue only on portion touching basket bottom.) When placing the first row of sticks, make sure the tips touch and that the sticks form a square (sketch c above). Glue the second row of sticks in place in line with all 4 edges of the basket bottom, overlapping edge about ½”. Continue building up the basket gluing the sticks 4 at a time diagonally crossing the preceding corner, overlapping each row less than 1/8” (sketch c above). Only a small dot of glue is necessary on the sticks for any row after the first one is in place. Do not press sticks as you stack them—merely lay them in place.

Finished Popsicle Stick Baskets

When you are done, your popsicle stick basket will look like the illustration above. It looks professionally made...that is how great it will look. For a slightly different craft, you can use different colored popsicle sticks to make different patterns.

Email us a pic of your basket and we will post them here.
