GET YOUR CHILDREN INVOLVED IN COMMUNITY SERVICE AND VOLUNTEER HIS OR HER TIME - VOLUNTEERING IS A GOOD THING
HOW TO HELP
Do you want to brighten up the days of a sick or needy child? We need your creative spirit and your loving help. There are many ways that you can help children...and you don't have to go anywhere or have any money to do so.
Teaching our child that it's just as wonderful to give as it is to receive is almost never easy. But once they understand the concept, the rewards can last a lifetime. As a parent, you probably want to guide your child to become a healthy and ethical adult. How can you lead your child to a healthy future? What kind of activities can you do together as a family that will steer your child towards becoming a compassionate adult? Community service and Volunteerism are your answer. Not only will you show your child that it is “cool” to care for others, but it will also be a wonderful way to get others involved.
MAKE BAGS of FUN STUFF to HELP NEEDY KIDS
Kids can help other children. It doesn't matter whether they are rich or poor.
With the following instructions you can help cheer up some needy children. This idea will help SPREAD SMILES ACROSS THE WORLD.
The following projects use things that you probably already have in your house....so you won't need to go buy things for this project. Fill up a bag (or bags) with these fun projects and you will put a smile on another child's face. How? Well bring it on over to a local shelter or charity.
(Don't bring these bags to kids in hospitals as they usually only allow new items there. HERE IS HOW TO HELP KIDS IN HOSPITALS)

No-Sew Bag Craft Made with Old T-shirts

Magnetic Travel Board Games Set with Altoids Tins
V Shaped Arrows Friendship Bracelet
(Also instead of making friendship bracelets, you can cut some string, provide pins or tape, and scissors so that the child can make friendship bracelets as something to do .... you could print out instructions for making friendship bracelets as well as cats in the cradle instructions).
Other Ideas for these Fun Bags...
(1) Hold a drive to collect items for these fun bags....ask people for 'Gently Used' or New Toys, Games, Stuffed Animals, Art Supplies, Coloring Books, etc
(2) Set up a monthly Neighbordhood Bag and Toy Making Event & Collection Time. People can donate gently used items or new items for the bag. They could also donate their crafts materials and their time to make things like stuffed dolls, bags, etc.
(3) Charitable Birthday Party - Donate some of your birthday gifts to a shelter...or have the birthday event be making crafts for the bags. Read an article about this.
(4) Have a Yard Sale, Bake Sale, Lemonade Sale, etc and use the money to buy items to put in the fun bags.
HOW TO HELP KIDS IN HOSPITALS
Kids who stay in the hospital for long periods of time are often bored, depressed, and feeling lousy. It is a wonderful idea to think of ways to cheer them up. Here are some ideas.
(1) Homemade Cards and Pictures - It would be wonderful if you could make homemade cards and pictures. It is even nicer of you to try to get your entire class or school to do so too.
(2) Hold a Funddrive or an Arts and Crafts / Stuffed Animal Collection - Get your school, camp, religious organization, etc involved in holding a drive to collect either funds, arts and crafts items, or stuff animals. Put them in bags and give them off to kids in hospitals.
(3) Charitable Birthday Party - Donate some of your birthday gifts to a child who is sick in the hospital. Read an article about this.
(4) Have a Yard Sale, Bake Sale, Lemonade Sale, etc and use the money to buy items to put in bags for children in the hospital.
ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE IN YOUR HEART
Hold A Charitable Birthday Party for Your Child with a Charity Party- As a parent, you probably know that the birthday party routine can be an almost painful experience. With about 20 children in your child's class, going to more than one birthday party in one weekend can occur quite often. If you have more than one child, birthday-party weekends can take over your entire life. Finding the right gift takes hours, wrapping the present and preparing the card is more time. When it is your child's turn for a birthday party, do you really want to put other parents through the same routine? Will your child really appreciate 20 birthday gifts on top of what you and your family have already given him? Does your child really need more toys?
