HOW TO MAKE MATCHES SAFE from a FILM CANNISTER : Camping Crafts for Kids & Teens

The 35 mm. film containers have a tight screw top, with a rubber or neoprene gasket in the top, making the container air- and watertight, and a good container for keeping matches safely. (Adult Supervision and Assistance Required)

Matches Safe from Film Cannisters

CRAFTS MATERIALS NEEDED:

scissors

35 mm film cannister

kitchen matches

paint

How to Make Them:

Because the regular sort of strike-anywhere kitchen match is too long, measure and cut the sticks to fit the can. About 40 matches will fit, if the ends are alternated. If the can is not already painted, paint bright colors for easy spotting if left on the ground. The can can be decorated with designs, or a large "M" for matches painted on, to distinguish it from an actual film cannister. Give this to your dad for Father's Day or just make it for camping.
