What is PreCycling?
Precycling is the process of reducing waste by attempting to avoid bringing into the home or business items which will generate waste. By preventing the use of materials, you are preventing this item from being used and the need for it to be recycled as well. So basically you are preventing the wasteful use of an item by some sort of action that you take.
Examples of Precycling
- Bringing fabric bags into a store with you to prevent the wasteful use of plastic or paper bags.
- Stopping junk mail being sent to you by using the following resource.
- Using the Internet to read your news instead of buying a newspaper every day
- Buy your groceries in bulk to reduce the waste of packaging materials
- Use both sides of printer paper to reduce the waste of paper
- Using washable plates, silverware, and napkins, instead of the use of disposable plates, cups, silverware
- drink filtrated faucet water instead of using multiple water bottles.
