Gallon milk jugs are a great craft supply for families, especially big families with growing children, because you go through so many of them and they take up so much space in the recycle bin if you just throw them away. I know, with four children, we go through at least 3 gallons of milk a week, sometimes we have gone through 5 if the kids are eating a lot of cereal that week.
Gallon milk jugs also look a lot like funny faces. Faces of all kinds are a natural milk jug craft idea. We use them every year for Halloween to store candy we are passing out, little kids love reaching into the funny milk jug craft faces to get their treats. My favorite is the milk jug pumpkin candy holder craft. All of our kids have made them, they are simple and the faces can be changed to whatever you feel like to make them scary or silly.
Have a whale of a time at the beach, the pool, or in your bathtub. All you need is an empty milk jug to make this craft. Rinse it out and make sure it is dry. Add some white glue to gray or blue paint to make it stick to the jug better. Use a paint brush to paint the jug and then let dry completely. Cut apart a bit of the bottom of the jug to make the mouth. Now paint two eyes (you can paint a white circle with a black circle inside of it for an easy eye). Cut an oval out of the top of the handle for the blow hole. Use the extra plastic from the mouth (or use a sturdy plastic bag) you and cut a tale out - it sort of looks like a sideways heart. Glue it to the jug's cap. Cut out 2 half circles for the side fins. Attach to side of jug. You can paint them and let them dry. The water scoop whale can be used in the pool or tub or beach.
