Today I have a fun Christmas craft for you.  I’m going to show you how to make a Santa Claus Perler Bead Christmas Ornament.  You don’t need much in the way of materials…. just some plastic lace and some perler beads and you are good to go.  Follow the pattern in the tutorial and you will have a Santa Claus Christmas Ornament to hang on your tree in no time.  So, let’s get started.

Materials Needed

3 Feet of Plastic Lace

Perler Beads (White, Red, Pink and Black)

Step 1

Cut about 3 feet of plastic lace.  Fold in half.

Step 2

Tie a knot down a bit to leave a loop to hang as a decoration.

Step 3

The top of Santa’s hat is white so place 2 white beads on right strand.

Step 4

Since the beads are on the right strand… put the left strand thru the left side of the beads.

Step 5

Now pull both strands outwards so that the beads move upwards in place.

It should look like this now.

Step 6

The last time you strung the bead on the right side so this time you will string it on the left side.  String 2 beads on the left side.

Step 7

Since you strung the bead on the right side this time… you will put the right strand thru the right side of the beads.

Step 8

Pull strands outwards to make the beads go up to the top.

Step 9

You stranded the bead on the left last time, so this time you strand the bead on the right side.  Put one red bead on the right strand.

Step 10

Pull strands outwards to move red bead to top and center.

Step 11

The above letters show you which side to thread the bead on.  Just continue as I showed you and you will have a beautiful ornament.

Step 12

Knot both laces.

There you have it…. you just finished making your Santa Claus Perler Bead Christmas Ornament.  Now, go hang it up on your Christmas Tree for all to see.

Today I’m going to show you how to make Starmen from Super Mario Bros. with Perler Beads.  If you are a fan of Super Mario Bros. you know that getting Starmen is a good thing.  Your player becomes invincible to most anything that comes in his path.  Not only does it make your player invincible it also increases the speed of your player.  So, let’s get started making Starmen.

Step 1

Place beads on the plate according to the template… and then give to an adult in order to have it ironed.

Step 2

Ask an adult to iron the first side on medium heat.  Place wax paper over the beads, then for 30 seconds, iron in a circular motion.  Let cool for a few minutes and then come back to it.

Step 3

After cooled…. turn plate over and take item off of plate.  Now adult can place wax paper over back side of item and iron this side for 30 seconds as well.

Today I’m going to show you how to make a Piranha Plant from Super Mario Bros. with Perler Beads.  Piranha Plants  are large, carnivorous plants that eat anything in its vicinity.  Usually piranhas come out from warp pipes, but now they can also be found other places in the game as well.  If you have been making the other Super Mario Bros. Characters out of Perler Beads with me then this Piranha Plant is a necessary addition.  So, let’s get started.

Place your perler beads on the plate per the template given in this tutorial.  Then carefully hand your board to an adult in order for them to iron and set.

Step 2

Ask an adult to iron the first side on medium heat.  Place wax paper over the beads, then for 30 seconds, iron in a circular motion.  Let cool for a few minutes and then come back to it.

Step 3

After cooled…. turn plate over and take item off of plate.  Now adult can place wax paper over back side of item and iron this side for 30 seconds as well.

Step 4

This is the finished Piranha Plant.  Use our Warp Tube tutorial in order to finish making the Piranha Plant come out of the Warp Tube like in the game…

… like this.  Since my finished craft is a Mario Game Magnet Board… I placed magnets behind the plant and the tube.

Perler Beads fun by making Coins from Super Mario Bros.  Coins are a very common item in the Super Mario Bros. games.  They are worth 10 points for each coin…. if you collect enough of these coins you can earn another life.  Why not make a couple of these coins and add them to your Super Mario Bros. Perler Bead collection…. you could have your very own Mushroom Kingdom.

Use the template to help place the perler beads in the right spot.  Then bring the plate to an adult so that they can iron it for you.

Step 2

Ask an adult to iron the first side on medium heat.  Place wax paper over the beads.  Then for 30 seconds, iron in a circular motion.  Let cool for a few minutes and then come back to it.

Step 3

After cooled… Turn plate over and take item off of plate.  Now adult can place wax paper over back side of item and iron this side for 30 seconds as well.
