Well, earlier today we made an Indian boy out of paper. It would make sense that I would post an Indian girl next. If you thought that, you are absolutely right. Indians were a very important part of Thanksgiving happening at all. They taught the Pilgrims how to grow food…. before that the Pilgrims were starving to death. After the Indians taught the Pilgrims how to grow food we had an amazing harvest and that’s how Thanksgiving came about. So, let’s make our Indian Girl out of paper.
The Indians were an important part of the first Thanksgiving. After all, if it wasn’t for the Indians the Pilgrims wouldn’t have had such a wonderful Harvest back in 1621. And, if there was no harvest there would have been no Thanksgiving. The Indians taught the Pilgrims how, what and where to plant the food. So, today I’m going to show you how to make an Indian Boy out of Paper.

If children have not had much experience with 3-dimensional work, you can introduce them to paper sculpture through “drawing” with strips of paper. This method can be the basis for developing an understanding of sculpture, or form in space. Since children are familiar with line drawing, the transition to drawing in space would be logical. Strips of construction paper, cut to one inch widths on the paper cutter, can be made in advance. Demonstrate how a strip can be a straight line, a curved line, or by folding the strip it can be a zig-zag line. Everyone can try it and see how many different kinds of lines they can make. A line can enclose space so that basic geometric shapes —triangles, circles and squares—can be formed. These outline shapes can be combined with scotch tape, paste, or with a stapler. I made this heart with wings accidentally today so I thought that I would share with you how I made it. You start out doing a bit of paper folding and origami and then you start cutting a bit….what you turn up with is a valentines day card heart with wings. You can give this to somebody that you love on Valentines day.
