How to Make Valentines Day Cards with Fist Holding Lollipops

I saw somewhere a handmade Valentine’s Day card with a little girl or boy holding a lollipop and I thought it was so cool. It stuck in my mind and I decided to try it out for my daughter’s Valentine’s Day card that goes out to her classmates. This is a great way to personalize your child’s Valentine’s Day card … as it display’s your child within the card. Now in a perfect situation, I would have printed this card out with colors, but of course I ran out of ink. And, I also would have printed this out on white card stock, however Walmart only had card stock in bright colors. So, decided for yourself which elements you want your card to have. Have fun.

Also, this is a craft that has to be mostly done by and adult…as a craft knife is needed. Also, you need to prepare the image on the computer…so if you have an older child and they know how to do this, then by all means, let them help.

How to Make Valentines Day Cards with Fist Holding Lollipops

Crafts Materials Needed:

Computer, Printer, Card Stock, Lollipops, Scissors, Craft Knife (for Only Mom or Dad to Use)

Step 1

step1 : Take a Picture of Your Child

Ask your child to hold out their hand in a fist. Do a better job than I did. I am an awful photographer. Oh well.

Step 2

step2 : Print Out Pictures of Child

I too k my picture into Adobe Photoshop. I then cut her cute little arm off and made it bigger so the hand looked closer / larger. This is NOT a necessary step if you are a better photographer. 🙂

Then make 4 of them so they are the right size for a Valentine’s day card.

Step 3

step3 Cut Cards Into Separate Cards

Cut into 4 separate cards.

Step 4

step4 Cut Slits in Card and Put Lollipops Thru

(For Parents / Adults Only). Take a craft knife. and cut on the left AND right side of the fist. Then put the lollipop thru like this.

Step 5

step5 : Hand Out Your Cards

Once you get the hang of it, they are really easy to make. Make sure to make enough for all of your child’s classmates.

How to draw a Valentine Dragoness Valentine’s Card

Today I will show you how to draw a fantasy style Valentine’s Day Card…. specifically a Valentine Dragoness Valentine’s Day card.  You can use regular paper for this craft or if you would like something more durable feel free to use Card Stock.  Whatever you have in your house is fine.  I will show you how to make every detail of this Valentine Dragoness perfect for your someone special.  So grab a paper and pencil and let’s get started.

Check out our other Valentine’s Day Crafts.

Laura from Dacian Moon Handmade will show you step-by-step how to make this.

Materials Needed

Paper or Card Stock

Pencil

Black Pen or Thin Marker

Step 1

Let’s start with one simple circle (is not necessary to be perfect). Now draw the X’s below.

Step 2

We’ll draw the basic parts of her face: eyebrow, jaw and snout.

Step 3

Now outline the head, over the new added parts, and then add the neck.

Step 4

Now we will sketch the nose…

And the mouth.
The mouth should be from the edge of the snout to the jaw.

Step 5

Let’s give her life: add the eye.
It should be drawn keeping the shape of the eyebrow.
Add definition to the nose, the jaw and the mouth.

Step 6

The basics are done so we can start adding details. Let’s give her horns and a little crest.

Step 7

Her head is ready but feel free to add as many details as you want – this will make your dragoness one of a kind.
It’s time to sketch the heart she is holding…

… and the hands.

Step 8

Let’s complete her with some wings. We draw it the same way we drew the crest, just bigger.

Step 9

Of course, she has claws. So, we draw them.  Also, draw her crest to go down over her back (between the wings), and add the last details.

Now our sketch is ready.

Step 10

Clean the unneeded lines. If you want you can copy it on a new paper (by placing it up against a window and tracing it).

Step 11

You’ll see that after cleaning… the lines are too thin… so outline and emphasize the important features, especially the eye.

Step 12

Apply shadows with thin and light lines.

Step 13

Now, with a little piece of paper, smudge the shadows.

Step 14

Add “Be my Valentine” on the heart and our dragoness is ready.

Give this handmade Valentine Dragoness to someone special this Valentine’s Day.  They will love it.

How to Make a Kissing Dangle Decoration for Valentines Day

Are you still looking for decorations for Valentines Day?  If so, then I have the craft for you today.  In this post I’m going to show you how to make a Kissing Dangle Decoration for Valentine’s Day.  It’s an easy craft, but turns out really beautiful to hang up for Valentines Day.  Plus, making this craft is a lot of fun…. almost as much fun as it will be seeing people’s reactions when they find out you made this decoration yourself.  So, grab the materials needed and let’s get started.

Check out our other Valentines Day Crafts.

Laura from Dacian Moon Handmade  will show you how to make this, step by step.

Materials Needed

– 4 recycled valentines cards
– white paper
– scissors
– thick thread
– pencil
– paper glue
– assorted color beads (I used blue, red and white)

Step 1

Take the card with the smaller width and draw its width on the white paper.

Do the same with the card with the smaller height.

Complete the rectangle…

… then cut it out. This is the maximum size that can be used on all the cards.

Draw a heart inside this rectangle. Make it as large as you can.

Cut it out.  This is our heart template.

Step 2

Place the template on a card …

… and draw the outline.

Cut it out, then fold it in half.

Do the same for all 4 cards.

Step 3

Apply a layer of glue on one half of one heart (on the back)…

… then place another heart over it. Press well.

Do the same to add another heart. Now we have only one left.

Step 4

Take the thread and make a knot on its end.

Add the blue bead…

… and make another knot over it.

Add the red bead …

… and make another knot.

Step 5

Apply a layer of glue on the center of hearts.

Put the thread there…

… add glue and the last heart over it, like this.

Make another knot.

Add the last bead and make the last knot.

Now your kissing dangle is ready! Hang it where people can see and enjoy it.

How did your Kissing Dangle Decoration turn out?  Let me know in the comments below.  And, take a picture of the decoration too and share that in the comment as well.  I’d love to see it.  Now, go hang up your Kissing Dangle.

How to Make a “Be My Valentine” Owl

Today I’m going to show you how to make a stuffed Owl toy.  And, not just any stuffed Owl toy, but a “Be My Valentine” Owl that you can give to someone special this Valentines Day.  Imagine their surprise when they receive something that you made yourself.  Or, if you would prefer to keep it…. don’t even give it to someone.  Instead of writing “Be My Valentine” on the heart you can leave it blank or write whatever message you would like.  So, whether it is for you or someone special…. either way it is sure to be loved.  Let’s get started.

Check out our other Valentines Day Crafts.

Tutorial offered by Laura from Dacian Moon Handmade.

Materials Needed

– three pieces of fabric (a large piece – about 16 cm x16 cm – the color that the owl will have, a smaller piece in a contrasting color and a red piece of about 5 cm x 5 cm)
– small pieces of white and black (or brown) leather
– scissors
– pen
– stuffing material (I used some cotton pads)
– needle and thread

Step 1

Fold the large fabric piece in half.

Draw the outline of the owl using your pen. Like this.

Cut it out. You will find it useful to use some pins to keep the two parts together.

It will look like this.

Step 2

Start sewing the two parts together…

… like this.

Stop when you reach the ears.

Sew the other side too.

Step 3

Turn it inside out.

Prepare the stuffing material .

I tore the cotton pads into small fluffy pieces.

Stuff your little bird so that it has a wonderfully squishy and cuddly softness.

When you are satisfied, sew the top.

Like this.

Step 4

Draw two circles on the piece of white leather.

Cut them out.

Apply a layer of glue on the back of one…

… and place it where the eye should be. Do the same with the other one.

Take the black / brown leather…

… and cut out a diamond from it.

This is the beak and we will stick it between the two eyes.

Use the pen to give it some personality by finishing the eyes.

Step 5

Cut 2 wings from the fabric in contrasting color. Like this.

Then sew them on the two sides of the owl…

… like this.

Step 6

Draw a heart on red fabric.

Cut it out, then apply a layer of glue on its back.

Place it under the beak, like this.

Now you can let it like this, decorate it or write “Be my Valentine !” on it, like I did.

And, there you have it…. you just finished the “Be My Valentine” Owl.  Did you make your owl like mine or did you do something different?  Let me know in the comments below.  If you want, take a picture of the owl and share that too in the comments…. I’d love to see it.

How to Make an Owl Mailbox for Valentines Day

Valentines Day is coming up in less than a week.  If you don’t have a Mailbox to collect your Valentines Day Cards in then you are missing out.  No worries…. in this post I’m going to show you how to make an Owl Mailbox for Valentines Day.  This mailbox is perfect for collecting all your Valentines Day Cards.  Don’t be stuck holding a brown paper bag to collect your Valentines in…. that’s just boring.  So, grab the materials needed and let’s get started.

Check out our other Valentines Day Crafts.

Laura from Dacian Moon Handmade will show you, step by step, how to make this.

Materials Needed

– recycled box
– beautifully patterned wrapping paper
– white and red paper
– scissors
– pen
– glue
– glitter glue
– cutter

Step 1

Take the recycled box and draw a “window” on it (a rectangle in the middle) … like this.

Draw another “window” on top. Be careful to not draw too close to the edge.

Cut the “windows” out. Take care not to cut yourself.

It will look like this.

And the “window” on top.

Step 2

Put wrapping paper under the the lid with the “window” and draw its outline.

Cut it out, like this.

Apply a layer of glue on the back of it…

… and stick it in place.

Step 3

Glue wrapping paper on the other sides of the box too.

For the top do the same as in step 2.

Apply a layer of glue inside the box and cover it with white paper (you can cover only the back, because only this part is visible through windows).

Like this.

Step 4

Now, let’s decorate it.  Draw a simple owl outline and 2 wings on white paper.

Draw another one on red paper.

Cut them out.

Now let’s prepare a tree branch to stand on.

You can use your pen to give it some color, like this.

Cut  it out and glue it on a lower corner of the front window.

Step 5

Now you have to assemble owls. We’ll start with the white one. First, color its eyes.

Then, put glue on the upper side of one red wing…

… and stick it in place. Do the same with the other one.

Make sparkling points on its body with glitter glue…

… like this.

What’s missing? Cut a small triangle from the red paper to make its beak.

Do the same with the other owl. Aren’t they cute?!

Step 7

Apply glue where you want to place the owl.

I put them on the left side of the window. To keep them on sturdy, cover a little of the lid with one of them, like this.

The other one will stay near the first, holding hands (or wings). They look so cute together.

Step 8

Draw one circle on white paper and one on red paper (slightly bigger).

Cut them out.

On the white one write “Happy Valentines Day”.

Apply glue on the opposite corner of the window…

… and stick the red circle there.

Over it place the white one.

Your mailbox is now ready to be used.

There you go…. your Owl Mailbox for Valentines Day is ready.  Now, you are all set to collect all your Valentines Day Cards.  Enjoy!!
